why protests
—
Protests are a key window into what health workers are concerned about - working conditions, wage and compensation, benefits, safety and protection, and other social issues. However, we know little about how frequently protests occur, what they involve, and what they achieve.
what our work involves
—
Quantitative analysis of health worker protest data using the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED).
Investigation of protests using qualitative case studies, drawing on a range of data sources, including social media.
Developing international and interdisciplinary partnerships with researchers, practitioners, civil society and other groups.

“Approximately sixty-six percent of global protests in the 2020–2021 period expressed health worker dissatisfaction about issues such as: occupational hazards, unpaid wages, risk allowances, and job security.”
